The Director of Breast Imaging is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of breast imaging services, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and image-guided procedures.
This role involves clinical excellence, operational leadership, quality assurance, and program development to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The director will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including radiologists, technologists, surgeons, and oncologists, to enhance breast health services.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Oversee and interpret breast imaging studies, including mammograms, breast ultrasounds, and MRIs.
- Perform image-guided biopsies, localizations, and other interventional breast procedures.
- Maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient safety.
- Ensure compliance with ACR, MQSA, and other relevant imaging guidelines.
Administrative & Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement policies, protocols, and best practices for breast imaging.
- Collaborate with hospital administration and department leaders to optimize workflow and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Education
- Provide mentorship and training to radiology residents, fellows, and technologists.
- Stay up to date with advancements in breast imaging technology and procedures.
- Organize continuing medical education (CME) programs and staff training sessions.
Program Development & Community Engagement
- Expand and enhance breast imaging services, including screening and diagnostic programs.
- Work closely with oncology and surgery teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in community outreach and education efforts to promote breast health awareness.
