The NP will work collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement evidence-based wound care plans, provide patient education, and ensure high standards of patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations related to wounds, ostomies, and skin integrity.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with complex wounds such as pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, venous/arterial ulcers, and surgical wounds.
- Perform wound care procedures such as debridement, application of advanced dressings, and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).
- Monitor wound healing progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care providers, surgeons, physical therapists, and dietitians to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, prevention strategies, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.
- Ensure compliance with infection control practices, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff education and training in wound care management.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New Mexico
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
